AU runners claim weekly honors

Aurora runners Drew Schmitt and Briana Deckard were named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Student-Athletes of the Week for events of September 5-11.

Schmitt (Batavia, Ill.) collects the award for the second straight week after a ninth-place finish of over 180 runners at the AU Spartan Classic. He was the top conference finisher at his team's host meet with a time of 26:17.1 in the 8K event.

Deckard (Danville, Ind.) finished 11th in the women's 6K event, and was also the top NAC finisher. She posted a time of 24:12.4 as one of the leaders of 120 entrants.
