Blom's Career-High, Game-Winner Secure Weekly Award
Dominican's Kayla Blom has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for games of November 28-December 4.
Blom (Circle Pines, Minn.) set a new career-high of 31 points and tied the Dominican school record with seven 3-pointers (7-for-15) in the Stars' 84-79 double-overtime win over crosstown rival Concordia Chicago on Wednesday. The point guard also pulled down eight rebounds in the contest.
On Saturday versus Lakeland, Blom scored 13 points in just 20 minutes of action and logged a 62.5 shooting percentage from the floor -- 3-of-4 from 3-point range -- which included the game-winning 3 with just 0.1 seconds left on the clock for the 71-68 final.
Blom's 10 3-pointers on the week came on just 19 attempts, giving her a 52.6 percent accuracy from beyond the arc for the Stars (4-3, 2-1 NAC).
