TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- CUW’s Micah Lorenzen displayed grit and determination in his 5000-meter run at the NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, finishing seventh to earn All-American honors.

The 25 Lap event had several story lines throughout the race. Lorenzen started the race running the first 12 laps in third place behind eventual winner William Kaul (UW-Oshkosh). Midway through the race - Lorenzen fell back to ninth place, but continued to run with the tight group. As Lorenzen finished lap 21, he made a strong effort to move up on the pack. He continued the remainder of the race battling with several runners for that top eight finish.

Lorenzen closed his last lap with a 30 second split and a huge lean at the finish to take 7th place in the event. Lorenzen's 7th place finish grants him the Title of "2009 NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field All-American". He ran an indoor personal best time of 14:36.18 seconds in the event.
