Raiders finish NCAA Championship in 25th place

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The MSOE men's golf team, winners of the Northern Athletics Conference automatic qualifying tournament in late April, placed 25th overall among the field of the 40 top teams in the nation at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship in Greensboro, N.C. The Raiders finished the first two rounds of the tournament, held last Tuesday and Wednesday, while only the top 15 teams advanced to the third and final rounds, held on Thursday and Friday.

MSOE shot a combined 19-over par 307 on the second day of competition. Junior Dane Zachman and senior Peter Eich both shot a one-over 73. Zachman finished the event in a tie for 34th while Eich finished tied for 47th. Freshman Scott Loftus was two strokes better in his second round with an 80 while seniors Jason Arnes and Ben Turk carded scores of 81 and 83, respectively.

On the first day of the tournament, the Raiders carded a score of 305, for a score of 17 over par. Zachman was the low man for MSOE after shooting a two-over par 74. Eich was two strokes behind while Arnes recorded a score of 77 at five-over par. Turk shot a 78 while Loftus ended the first round with a score of 82.
