Five teams qualified from the Midwest Regional to attend nationals. North Central College, who won the event, scoring 51 points and UW-La Crosse (64), received automatic berths. Third place UW-Stevens Point (82), UW-Oshkosh (134) and Augustana College (182) received at-large bids.

Maio finished the 8K course with a time of 25:12.3, making him the first MSOE men's cross country runner to qualify for nationals.
