Rockford men, Aurora women take NAC Cross Country titles
MEQUON, Wis. -- Rockford College won the men's title and Aurora University won the women's title at the 2008 Northern Athletics Conference Championships in Mequon, Wis.

Rockford placed five runners in the top 15 for a team total of 43 points. MSOE, the 2007 champions, took second with 48 total points. Host Concordia University Wisconsin was the only other team to finish under 100 points with 72 team points, for a third place finish.

Wisconsin Lutheran College's Zach Shiels (Johnson Creek, Wis.) won the men's 8K with a time of 25:39. Shiels was named NAC Men's Runner of the Year for 2008.

Rockford's Victor Reyes, who placed 10th with a time of 27:16, was named the 2008 NAC Men's Freshman of the Year (award formerly named Rookie of the Year), while Rockford's Roger Fredrickson was named Men's Coach of the Year.

Aurora University's women's team totaled 50 team points to claim the title. They placed five runners in the top 20, and six in the top 25. AU head coach Ryan Chapman was named Women's Coach of the Year.

Last year's champions, Concordia University Wisconsin, claimed a second place finish with 92 team points. Benedictine University took third with 106 points.

Dominican University's Megan Vaccaro won the women's championship with a time of 22:40, and was named the Northern Athletics Conference Women's Runner of the Year.

Wisconsin Lutheran College's Katie Schommer finished fourth with a time of 23:30 and was named Women's Freshman of the Year.
