Edgewood College claims NAC
Women's Tennis Championship The Eagles (13-6, 10-0 NAC) won five championships in singles and two in doubles for their first conference crown since winning the 2001 Lake Michigan Conference title. Edgewood scored 96 points, just five short of the possible maximum. The seven titles for Edgewood are the most in school history since they claimed seven titles in 1995. The Eagles earned the Northern Athletics Conference's first ever berth to the NCAA Division III Championships which will take place next May. Aurora University (8-4, 9-1) claimed second place in the championship with 71 points, while Concordia University Wisconsin (9-6, 8-2) finished in a close third with 67 points. MSOE's Martina Fialova (Hluboka, Czech Republic), the No. 1 singles champion, was named the Northern Athletics Conference Player of the Year. Edgewood College's Lizzie Starck (Williams Bay, Wis.) won the No. 2 singles title and was named the NAC Freshman of the Year. Mike McKenzie, head coach of Aurora University earned Coach of the Year honors.
