Benedictine's Abron to compete at DIII Championships
LISLE, Ill. -- Benedictine University's Kimyenna Abron (Chicago, Ill./Hyde Park H.S.) will be the first-ever female sprinter to represent the school at the NCAA Division III track and field championships, when the senior travels to Ada, Ohio for this weekend's indoor championship meet. Abron's provisional qualifying time of 7.21 seconds in the 55 meter dash was good enough to get her in the field for that event.

Abron's time -- which was also a Benedictine school record - is the 10th-fastest among the qualifiers, with the top-eight finishers earning All-America designation. The speedy senior re-set the 55 meter record a total of five times during the season, while eclipsing the school's 200 meter indoor mark four times and the 400 meter mark once.

2008 is Abron's first-ever effort at competing in track and field on the intercollegiate level. She lettered in soccer for three years, previously, at Benedictine, where she earned All-NAC second team accolades as a senior and was honorable mention as a junior.
